“One child, one teacher, one book and one pencil can change the world.”
- Malala Yousafzai

Our Mission and Vision
Mission: We provide workshops and funds which ENHANCE ACCESS TO EDUCATION for the communities most vulnerable students.
Vision: An empowered community, where ALL children are able to reach their academic potential and achieve their dreams, despite the financial hardship they were born into.

Our Roots
Back in 2014, our founders - Shannon Young and Nakawunde Josephine - sat conversing under the enormous Mango tree in the middle of Kayenje C/U primary schools playground. It is from the seeds of this conversation that the plans for our project began to grow.
'Muyembe' is the Luganda word for mango. Therefore our name pays homage to our roots and acts as a reminder that everything starts somewhere, and anything is possible.

Our Projects
- The Kayenje Education Fund
This is our biggest project. We provide 6-year scholarships to children in Kayenje who otherwise would be financially unable to attain an education. These scholarships ensure our students break the cycle of poverty in the village; but more importantly they allow our students to achieve their dreams of becoming teachers, nurses, and engineers.
- Empowerment Workshops
We provide workshops that aim to inspire and empower students at Kayenje primary school, encouraging them to defy expectations and stay in school.
- Pads for All
Our newest project will begin soon. We aim to provide workshops to reduce the stigma around periods and raise funds to provide reusable sanitary pads to students who need them, hopefully encouraging more girls to stay in school.
